Turgutreis.. sunsets and wonderful atmosphere

Turgutreis is located 18 kms west of Bodrum. The place was named after the famous
Ottoman Admiral Turgut Reis Pasha who was born here in the early 16th century, known
as "Dragut " in the west.

There are 14 Turkish islands around Turgutreis and also 3 the Greek Islands Kos,
Kalimnos, Patmos. A number of ship wrecks were discovered in the seas of surrounding
islands which have yielded important artefacts. These findings are now displayed in the
Bodrum Underwater Archaeology museum.

Turgutreis has a sandy beach and beautiful sunsets to enjoy. In recent years, it has
developed rapidly and an international marina was built in 2003.

Today, there are very nice restaurants, seaside cafes and shops in the area. You shouldn't
miss the Saturday market ! Turgutreis is only 24 minutes away from Bodrum center by
minibuses ( dolmus )
