Bodrum is one of the most popular holiday resorts in Turkey and is famous for its
night life. It has something to offer everyone from dancing, sunbathing, sailing,
sightseeing, shopping and great food.


Geography
Bodrum peninsula is located on the south west coast of Turkey covering an area of
approximately 650 sq km. The Bodrum peninsula has little towns and villages around
the coastline. The major ones are Gumbet, Bitez, Konacik, Ortakent, Turgutreis, Gumusluk, Akyarlar, Yalikavak, Gundogan, Golturkbuku, Torba, Guvercinlik. For more information about

Population

According to the 2000 census; the population of the Bodrum peninsula is 98.000.
In summer, it rises definitely more than 150,000.


Climate
The weather in Bodrum is very mild and it enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate.
In winter, the weather is pretty warm. It rains but never snows. In summer, temperatures
start to increase in May and reach 33-34 C in August with little or no humidity. Nice breezes
come from the Aegean Sea to cool off the peninsula. The temperature of the sea is warm
and ideal for swimming.

Banks are open between 09:00 - 12:00 / 13:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday.
Central Post office ( PTT ) in Bodrum is open 24/7 and year around.
Museums are open between 09:00 - 17:00 Tuesday to Sunday.
Shops are open between 9:30 am - 7:00 pm
( In tourist areas, closing times vary, some close around midnight )


Public Telephones

To make a call you need to buy a telephone card.
Telephone cards can be purchased at PTT ( Post offices and small convenience shops )

To make an international call first dial 00 and then country code .
To make a long distance call outside Bodrum but still in Turkey, first dial 0 and then area
code of the city.
To make a call within the Bodrum peninsula and City of Mugla, just dial the number
